Gloucester Cathedral is inviting everyone to celebrate summer with a rich programme of events and activities throughout July and August 2025. Perfect for family days out in Gloucestershire, this beautiful sacred space offers a variety of experiences that celebrate heritage, community, and creativity.
From hands-on family fun to inspiring exhibitions and unique events, there are so many reasons to enjoy a day out at Gloucester Cathedral this summer. Whether exploring the tower, trying out yoga in the Nave, or experiencing the craftsmanship of centuries-old skills at the Stone Carving Festival, there is something for all ages.
One of the highlights this summer is Lions at Large, a 'roarsome' brand new trail taking place across Gloucester and Cheltenham from 11 July to 14 September. Gloucester Cathedral is proud to be part of this exciting trail, supporting the Big Space Cancer Appeal. Visitors can admire a beautifully painted lion sculpture proudly displayed outside the Cathedral as part of the county-wide trail. There is no booking required – simply turn up and enjoy exploring. And while visiting, be sure to step inside and discover Cubs in the Cathedral – a charming part of the trail not to be missed.
