Get Closer to Wildlife this Summer at Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens

Days Out inthe Cotswolds | Cotswold Wildlife Park

Wild Adventures Await – Discover the Best Family Days Out in The Cotswolds This Summer

For an unforgettable family day out this Summer Holidays 2025, escape to one of the most popular and picturesque attractions in the region – Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens. Set in 160 acres of beautifully landscaped parkland and gardens surrounding a historic Victorian Manor House, the park is nestled on the Gloucestershire–Oxfordshire border near Burford, making it a perfect destination for visitors exploring The Cotswolds.

From the moment you arrive, you’re immersed in a world of nature, discovery and adventure. With over 260 different animal species, wide open spaces and one of the most relaxed and scenic settings in the country, Cotswold Wildlife Park is a place where the whole family can truly unwind and reconnect – with nature and with each other. Whether you’re watching majestic white rhinos grazing lazily on the front lawns, strolling alongside wallabies or standing eye-to-eye with a giraffe on the raised walkway, every visit is packed with memorable moments.

The Park is renowned for its immersive experiences. You can wander through the lush Tropical House in the Walled Garden where sloths roam freely above your head, bats flit through the air and exotic birds swoop past. The Madagascar walkthrough is another highlight, giving visitors the chance to get up close to curious and playful lemurs in their beautifully designed free-roaming habitat. Children will love the twice-daily penguin feeds at 11am and 3pm, and the ever-popular lemur talk and feed at noon, offering a fun and educational insight into these charismatic creatures.

But it’s not just about animals – Cotswold Wildlife Park is also about space, freedom and letting the kids run wild. The Skymaze Adventure Playground is a multi-level network of treehouses, bridges, slides and climbing frames set among the trees, designed to spark imaginations and burn off energy. There’s also a dedicated Children’s Farmyard for hands-on encounters with friendly farm animals, and the much-loved narrow-gauge railway ride around the park aboard ‘Bella the Train’, which is always a family favourite during the warmer months.

The park caters brilliantly for families of all sizes and ages. It’s pushchair and wheelchair-friendly, with 99% accessibility throughout, and there are plenty of shaded seating areas, open lawns and picnic spots to relax in. A selection of cafés and kiosks serve hot food, drinks, snacks and ice creams, or you’re welcome to bring your own picnic and enjoy lunch with the giraffes or flamingos as your backdrop.

Uniquely, dogs are welcome too, making this one of the few truly inclusive family attractions in The Cotswolds. While there are a few restrictions in indoor and free-roaming animal areas, dogs on leads are welcome throughout most of the park – just one more reason why Cotswold Wildlife Park remains a firm favourite for families looking to make the most of their summer adventures.
