Air Tattoo proves it has the X Factor
Europe’s largest airshow will prove it has the X Factor this summer when it stages a performance by one of the talent show’s most successful stars.
Visitors to the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on Sunday, July 17 will be able to enjoy lunchtime entertainment courtesy of Alexandra Burke, the soul diva who has gone on to superstardom since winning The X Factor in 2008.
Alexandra, who was nominated for Best British Single at the Brit Awards this year, has enjoyed a string of hit songs since winning the fifth series of ITV’s top rated talent show, including Bad Boys and All Night Long. Her debut single Hallelujah, a Christmas number one in 2008, became the fastest selling single in Europe notching up 105,000 copies in 24 hours.
Alexandra Burke has recently completed a sell-out UK tour and plans to go into the studio shortly to record the follow up to her No1 platinum-selling album Overcome.
The 22-year-old singer, who has been nominated one of FHM magazine’s sexiest 100 women said: “I’m really looking forward to performing at one of the UK’s biggest outdoor events this summer particularly as it is held in support the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust. Let’s face it, my tour was so exciting and gave me such a buzz that I’ve been flying high ever since – so starring at an airshow makes perfect sense!”
Air Tattoo spokesman Richard Arquati said he was delighted that the airshow was able to attract a star on the ground to rival those that will be taking to the skies at RAF Fairford in July.
He said: “Anyone planning to visit the Air Tattoo this summer and who would like to see one of the UK’s top female singers should act fast. We’re confident that Alexandra, who will be performing on the Sunday only, will prove just as popular as her recent sell-out tour.”
The Air Tattoo is Europe’s largest airshow and attracts more than 250 aircraft from around the world including fast jets, giant transporters, classic warbirds, helicopters and aerobatics display teams. In addition to the thrilling seven-hour flying programme, there is a large static aircraft park, a classic car display, an action arena and fairground. Entertainment includes a stunt car driving demo, a parachute tower, children’s quad bikes, a motorbike display team, water zorbing, re-enactors plus a range of aircraft simulators.
Tickets for this summer’s Air Tattoo are only available in advance, priced from £39. For details, visit www.airtattoo.com or call 0800 107 1940. All accompanied under-16s go free.
