An Education in Fashion - Gloucestershire College during Cheltenham Fashion Week

Cheltenham Fashion Week

Gloucestershire College is delighted to be the official educational partner for the much anticipated inaugural Cheltenham Fashion Week 2012.

Cheltenham Fashion Week, which will run from Monday 17th to Friday 21st September, has been set up by the Cheltenham Fashion Group as a not for profit organisation. The team is made up of a panel of local volunteers including; Director Sam Bawden, Emma Whitelaw at Chapel Spa and Annabel Rayer and her team at Silverball PR amongst others.

Gloucestershire College’s Curriculum leader for fashion design, Sarah Clark has joined the creative team as Educational Director of Cheltenham, and has been busy organising the Student Education Show – a key event in the Cheltenham Fashion Week calendar.

The Student Education Show, co-sponsored by international fashion designer, George Davies, takes places on Tuesday 18th September at the Gloucestershire College Cheltenham Campus, and will showcase pieces from young designers at primary schools, secondary schools, colleges and universities from across Gloucestershire. The pieces will be judged by an esteemed panel who will pick the winning pieces straight from the catwalk; the panel will include George Davies himself alongside local fashionista Nell Gifford of Giffords Circus.

The College will also host three Fashion Seminars on Monday 17th, Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th September at the Cheltenham Campus.

Sarah Clark, Cheltenham Fashion Week Education Director said, “We are really excited to be involved in the inaugural Cheltenham Fashion Week. I’ve been quoted, ‘Learn the rules before you break the rules’ many times, and that’s exactly what I hope to bring to CFW. I aim to give pupils, students, young people and new designers a platform to utilise their skills, talents and creativity to produce creations and express their uniqueness in any manner they wish – creating a Spectacle of Fashion that everyone will be talking about.”
