Traditional Charcoal Burn at the Dean Heritage Centre

At the Dean Heritage Centre, traditional charcoal is crafted using the ancient turf and earth kiln technique, a rare practice in the country.

The team will commence construction of the Charcoal Burn on Saturday morning and ignite it at midday. By midday Monday, the charcoal will be ready for harvesting.

The Dean Heritage Centre promises an enjoyable day for the whole family. Spread across five acres, it offers a wealth of attractions encompassing history, culture, art, and unique displays against a stunning backdrop. Explore five museum galleries, outdoor exhibits, and vibrant arts and crafts demonstrations. Extend your visit with a picnic or dine at The Heritage Coffee Shop for a complete experience.
