Kite Day at Taurus Crafts

Kite Day at Taurus Crafts

Enjoying simple pleasures is at the heart of the next event at Taurus Crafts near Lydney, and what could be simpler than flying a kite with your friends and family.

The Kite Day event is a collaboration with Avon Kite Flyers club who aim to promote the enjoyment of kite flying and provide a friendly focus for kite flyers of all ages, abilities, and depths of interest. Throughout the day the club will be putting on a professional display of kite flying, filling the air with colourful kites of all shapes and sizes. With some more traditional kites soaring the skies the club’s novelty kites provide a good humoured attraction with a diverse selection in their stock the kite club could be flying anything from a giant pair of footballers legs to ‘Gertie’ the 30m pink gecko, or even a 60m mega whale called ‘Roly’. The whale took over six months to make and holds and incredible 120 cubic metres of air, so it only comes out when the wind is just right and needs careful controlling by the club members.

Alongside the display area will be separate public flying zone where all kite flying visitors are welcome to come along and join in the fun of the day with their own kites.

The event happens on Taurus Crafts event field on Sunday the 10th October and is free to enter, so why not go along and watch a fantastic colourful display of kites of all shapes and size soaring over Taurus Crafts, don’t forget to bring your own kite and join in the display.
