Get ‘Out and About’ with local photography exhibition
From Saturday 21st December 2013 until Sunday 2nd February 2014, visitors to the Dean Heritage Centre (DHC) will be able to see photography from local photographer Ian Evan’s and his exhibition based on his trips “Out and About”.
This delightful show includes a collection of local views as well as scenes taken on his various travels across the UK. An added interest is a range of seasonal photographs of Symonds Yat all taken from exactly the same spot on the famous viewpoint.
Ian has been a keen photographer since receiving his very first camera, a Kodak Instamatic, on his 10th birthday. He studied photography at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, in the mid 1980’s before embarking on a career in the civil service.
Following redundancy from the civil service, he began to volunteer at the DHC, first as a front of house representative before aiding collections staff in cataloguing the Dennis Potter archive. Ian now works in education and occasionally returns to volunteer at the Centre during the school holidays.
Throughout his life, Ian has been refining his photography skills and has taken many beautiful pictures. Commenting on his exhibition, Ian said:
“I am so glad to have the opportunity to exhibit my photography at the Dean Heritage Centre and look forward to sharing them with a wider audience though the Centre’s art gallery.”
Entry to the exhibition is included in admission to Centre.
