Exciting New Tour for Sudeley Castle & Gardens

Have you ever wanted to examine the love letters of a queen, or see the beer jugs of Charles I? These unique relics and more form part of an exciting new tour set to delight history-lovers when a local castle reopens on Sunday March 17th.
Sudeley Castle & Gardens will be unveiling the ‘20 Treasures of Sudeley’, a trail which brings to life the rich history of one of England’s most royally-connected castles.
The castle is best known as the final resting place of Tudor queen, Katherine Parr, but the trail, which forms part of an extended and revamped tour around the castle - with some rooms never seen by the public before - is sure to generate excitement amongst visitors who can view artefacts and works of art of great historical importance.
Lady Ashcombe, who owns and lives at Sudeley Castle & Gardens, said: “The 20 Treasures collection has been built up over the centuries, and each item tells a fascinating tale, so it’s a pleasure to be able to showcase it to the public.
“The story of Sudeley Castle is a remarkable one and the new tour will allow visitors to come closer to its history than ever before.”
Located only eight miles from the picturesque Broadway, Sudeley Castle & Gardens is the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within the grounds. The last of Henry VIII’s six wives, Katherine Parr lived and died in the castle, where she still remains today entombed in a beautiful 15th Century church found within the award-winning gardens.
Other highlights include a unique Katherine Parr exhibition, which allows guests to view personal items of the queen including rare copies of original books she wrote.
An owlery, pheasantry, adventure playground with picnic area, gift shop and café in the banqueting hall complete the perfect day out.
