New season at the Everyman!
Summer is coming and theatregoers can look forward to a cheeky Pimms on the Everyman terrace before relaxing with an evening of first rate drama, comedy or dancing. The new brochure is out - promising a season packed with something for everyone.
The Everyman’s chief executive, Mark Goucher said: “This season takes us until the end of the year when I am delighted to announce that Peter Duncan (he of Blue Peter fame) will be writing and directing a new production of Aladdin starring Gloucestershire’s very own Tweedy. Tickets are already selling fast so please book early. And do take a look at all the exciting work we programme into our Studio Theatre and visit our Directors’ Lounge where you can have the full VIP experience before the show and during the interval. We look forward to welcoming you to your Everyman Theatre.”
New shows coming to Cheltenham include (prior to the West End) The Messiah starring Hugh Dennis and Lesley Garrett. And Trial By Laughter, a new play by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman following the success of The Wipers Times.
JB Priestley’s thriller, An Inspector Calls returns in October and a critically acclaimed production of Othello, directed by Richard Twyman, is hot on its heels.
Other shows selling fast include the hit comedy A Play about a Bank Robbery; The Beatles musical Let it Be and shows for children such as Awful Aunty, Gruffalo’s Child and Dinosaur World Live.
Music is at the fore over summer with several one-night shows to enjoy. They have everything from The Carpenters Story on 24 May to One Night of Elvis 25 May; Forever Jackson 26 May then The Johnny Cash Roadshow 25 June; My Leonard Cohen 26 June; Material Girl: A Tribute to Madonna 27 June; That’s Life: The Frank Sinatra Story 28 June; Totally Tina 29 June and Dancing Queen - an action packed party night on 30 June.
