World famous Shakespeare's Globe comes to Sudeley Castle

Shakespeare’s Globe is delighted to announce the return of its hugely successful touring production of Romeo and Juliet back on the road this summer. The Globe will revisit the production for an extensive tour of the UK and will be at Sudeley Castle on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 May 2008.
A small troupe will perform Shakespeare’s tragic tale of star-crossed lovers in the stunning grounds of Sudeley, with the backdrop of the ruins of the romantic Tithe Barn. The troupe of actors will entertain outdoor crowds with their stripped down version of Shakespeare’s classic love story, true to the old principles of touring theatre.
The production will be re-cast and re-imagined by director Elizabeth Freestone who has recently been director on attachment at the National Theatre Studio. Romeo and Juliet will once again include Anthony Lamble’s innovative campervan design.
Dominic Dromgoole, Artistic Director of Shakespeare’s Globe, says; “The Globe was born out of a touring company culture, and that culture remained vital to it while it flourished. We are delighted to be exploring again the tradition of taking Shakespeare into non-theatrical spaces.”
Tickets are £15 for Adults and £10 for Concessions. Performances at 7pm; Gates open 6pm, bring your own seating and a picnic. Some refreshments will be available.
Box Office: 020 7401 9919 or from Sudeley’s Visitor Centre.
