Enjoy a round of golf at Shipton Golf Course

Set in the heart of the Cotswolds you'll find this charming nine hole 'Pay & Play' golf course, just off the A40 at Shipton, near Andoversford.
Set up by Mike Evans in the 1990's, Shipton Golf Course offers a warm welcome for golfing enthusiasts and leisure seekers alike, whether you're passing from a business meeting, ambling by while on holiday or living locally and fancy a quick round or two - this delightful 2516 yard golf course is the perfect place to unwind, relax and put everything else on hold.
With clubs and trolleys available for hire, the shop also stocks a wide range of equipment and golfing necessities, especially golf balls (of which we seemed to get through at an alarming rate!). Before or after your round, light refreshments are available for consumption inside or outside on the decked area, where you can take in the fresh Cotswold air and enjoy the picturesque Cotswold surroundings.
Shipton Golf Course is a relatively easy course to enjoy with the usual golfing obstacles, including a huge pond on hole two, and a very awkward stream which runs hazardously through three of the nine holes.
During your round on this easy walking golf course, you may come across some of the locals that frequent the fairways and rough, including hares hiding in the long grass. On our last visit we not only saw one but two different types of woodpecker - the lesser spotted and the larger green woodpecker!
Another plus is that there's no strict dress code like many membership golf courses, so as long as you'll reasonably dressed and shirts are worn at all times, then just turn up and have a casual round of golf!
If you're new to the sport and would like to learn the basics of how to hit the ball, or if you're a bit rusty and need a few pointers to improve your game, PGA golf professional Noel Boland, is available to assist you on most days, although it maybe an idea to give him a call first to arrange an appointment. He certainly helped us improve our swing - infact after the training we hit the balls long and high and the satisfaction of our boosted form was seen with the competitive nature on our next round, with smug smiles of delight when a good shot was played - not so many balls were lost either!!!
So if you wish to swing the clubs in one of the most pleasant and relaxing golf courses in the Cotswolds, without the stuffiness of some of the larger golf clubs, then Shipton Golf Course is the place to go.
