Repair and Recycle at Cirencester Repair Café
Cirencester Repair Café is pleased to announce its end of year results for 2021!
They’ve been busier this They received about 200 items to fix and their Volunteer Repairers have fixed 110 or 55% of them. The fixes have saved the equivalent of over 4,800 kilogrammes of carbon dioxide, about like taking a car off the road for 20,000 miles. A tool created by the Repair Café Foundation takes the weight and type of repaired items and converts them to estimated carbon dioxide savings.
Due to the generosity of their customers, the Repair Café have both been able to keep the Café well-stocked with useful tools and also make donations to local charities. This year, they’ve given £300 to Cirencester Signpost, who work to help the homeless and lonely, and £300 to Cirencester Foodbank, who provide food parcels to people in poverty and crisis.
Café Sessions are open to people to bring along electronic items, bikes and clothes which Volunteer Repairers will try to fix up. Fixes are free, though they do ask for a donation to cover expenses.
The Café will always need more helpful and skilled repairers! If anyone has a few hours to spare on a Saturday once a month and likes to fix things please email them.
