Feathery Fun in the Cotswolds this summer!

There’s a summer of feathered fun just waiting to be discovered at Birdland Park and Gardens throughout the school holidays (Saturday 22nd July – Sunday 3rd September.)
Located in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds, the park’s magical combination of wildlife, woodland, riverside and gardens makes it the perfect summer day out.

Among the exciting schedule of daily entertainments are penguin, pelican and flamingo feeding displays where visitors can find out all about the different species, what they like to eat, who is the most mischievous of the flock and fascinating insights from Birdland’s team of expert keepers.

The Penguin Shore enclosure, which underwent a dramatic redesign in 2022, is home to Birdland’s resident celebrity, Spike the King Penguin. Spike, who has over 15,000 Facebook followers, won the title of Most Popular Penguin in the World after winning Penguins International ‘March of The Penguins Madness’ challenge earlier this year.

The Out of Africa area provides the opportunity to meet a variety of exotic species such as black-checked love birds, a colony of village weavers, touracos, spreo starlings, guinea fowl, exotic ducks and the bizarre-looking ground hornbills.

Prehistoric adventures await intrepid explorers and those brave enough to venture into the Jurassic Journey. Spot species including T-Rex and brachiosaurus through the trees and look up high in to the canopies for a glimpse of the pterodactyls flying above.

“A summer’s day out in beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water is a must for families visiting the Cotswolds and there aren’t many other villages where you can also see a penguin and come face to face with a host of exotic bird life from across the globe,” said Birdland Manager, Simon Cox.

Birdland cares for more than 500 birds, ranging from the England’s only breeding colony of king penguins and awesome birds of prey to parrots, cassowaries and cranes in a mix of free-flying and aviary displays.

Guests to Birdland can pack a picnic to enjoy after visiting the parrots or enjoy a slice of cake and hot drink from the onsite Café, perched on the River Windrush, serving up delicious treats and spectacular views of the park’s flamboyance of flamingos.
