Raising Funds for a Brighter Future at the Everyman Theatre

The Everyman Theatre

Everyman Theatre Hosts Charity Event for Sierra Leone’s Children.

The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham, has proudly announced the details of ‘Saturday Night’s Variety Night’ a special evening of entertainment aimed at raising funds for the construction of a nursery in the Masama Village of Sierra Leone. The event will take place on Saturday 15th July, and proceeds will go towards a safe and nurturing environment for the children of the Kambia District.

The event is inspired by the remarkable efforts of Jen David, a member of The Everyman Theatre’s Community Choir, and her husband, Simon, who undertook the incredible task of building a primary school for the children of Masama Village in just 12 weeks back in 2015. Having successfully completed the primary school, Simon and Jen now aim to construct a much-needed nursery to support early childhood education in the region.

Saturday Night’s Variety Night promises to be a star-studded affair, featuring an outstanding line-up of performers who have generously donated their talents to this worthy cause. Attendees will be treated to an unforgettable evening of entertainment, including:

  • Magic and mayhem from the renowned magician, Mark Shortland
  • Sensational saxophonist and vocalist Kim Cypher, accompanied by her exceptional all-star band
  • Heart-warming performances by the Everyman Theatre’s own EveryVoice Choirs
  • Mesmerising tunes from Australian singing sensation Hattie Oates
  • Uproarious laughter with the comedic folk band Folk On
  • The St Mary’s Primary School Choir, performing songs from Pam Ayres’ Peter Pan Musical, with Composer, Louis Mander
  • All of the evening’s entertainment compered by BBC Radio Gloucestershire and Radio 4’s Faye Hatcher

Tickets for the event are now on sale.

“We wanted to support this project because the Everyman Choirs are at the heart of what we stand for. Having seen the footage from our team’s recent trip to the Masama Village School, I was both moved and inspired to think that we could make a difference to the children’s lives by helping to build a nursery. We urge people to support this great project by coming to an evening of uplifting entertainment, whilst knowing you have contributed and created lasting change” said Mark Goucher, CEO of the Everyman Theatre.

Saturday Night is Variety Night has been kindly supported by the generous donations from Thomas Legal and Savills.

Ticket prices start at £20.00, and proceeds will go towards building the nursery in the Masama Village. Tickets can be purchased through the Everyman Theatre Box Office on 01242 572573 or online via th link below.
