10 Things to do at Birdland this August Bank Holiday Weekend
Discover a whole host of fun activities at Birdland Park and Gardens this bank holiday weekend in the heart of the Cotswolds (Saturday 26th – Monday 28th August).
From Penguin Shore to Out of Africa there is lots to explore. We’ve gathered our top 10 favourite things to do at the Bourton-on-the-Water wildlife attraction for those joining us over the long weekend:
1 Spot Spike the Penguin
Head over to Penguin Shore for the penguin feedings which take place daily at 11am and 2:30pm and look out for Birdland’s celebrity resident Spike! Recently awarded the title of ‘The Most Popular Penguin in the World’, he’s met David Attenborough, starred in TV adverts and even has his own Facebook Page.
2 Take on the Flamingo Challenge
See if you can beat the flamboyance of flamingos and stand on one leg for longer than them, who do you think will be able to last the longest?
3 Hear the Dinosaurs Roar
Set off on a Jurassic Journey and uncover a prehistoric world full of dinosaurs. Look through the trees for a t-rex and high up into the canopy for a glimpse of the pterodactyls.
4 Come Face to Face with a Snake
Head over to the Encounters Area and meet a host of creatures including snakes, lizards and even and perhaps even some new-born chicks! It’s not just birds here at Birdland.
5 Discover the Dino Dig
Budding palaeontologists and wannabe fossil hunters can uncover lots of lost bones beneath the sand in the Dino Dig. Grab your tools and get to work.
6 Say Hello to the Baby Flamingos
This year saw some baby flamingos hatch out at Birdland. Will you be able to see the little newcomers on your visit during the summer?
7 Chit-Chat with a Parrot
There are lots of colourful parrots here at Birdland Park and Gardens. Say ‘helloo’ to a cockatoo and squawk with a scarlet macaw.
8 Meet the Keeper
Join us for the daily Meet the Keeper talk at 12.30pm and get up close and personal with the feathered residents. You’ll even have the chance to ask the keepers questions about your favourite residents.
9 Grab a Slice of cake
Take a well-earned rest in the Flamingo Point Café and enjoy a slice of cake if you’re feeling peckish.
10 Pick up a Pocket Money Treat
Finally stop off at the gift shop and pick up a memory to treasure forever.
Birdland Park and Gardens is open daily throughout the August bank holiday weekend from 10am and makes for the perfect Cotswolds day out with many other attractions to occupy busy minds in the quaint village.
