It really is starting to look like Spring and by now you’ve probably made your first trip to the garden centre. Let’s just hope that the barbeque will see a bit more action this year and that we get to enjoy some sunny days in Gloucestershire. Visitors to the prestigious Cheltenham National Hunt Festival this month will certainly be hoping for sun after the recent snow. It can be a bit breezy at Prestbury Park, but whatever the weather you can be assured of a great atmosphere throughout Cheltenham and beyond during this highlight of the racing calendar.
The start of the lambing season begins later this month and from March 21 can be seen at close quarters at Cotswold Farm Park to coincide with the start of the new season – this makes for a great family day out .
Don’t forget your mum on Mother’s Day 22 March. It’s the perfect opportunity to treat her to a day out – you could even celebrate it Roman style at Chedworth Roman Villa.
The winner of the 2008 ‘Gloucestershire at its Best’ photography competition has now been announced (see below) and due to the great response and high standards the 2009 competition will commence in April. The photographers amongst you may wish to be reminded that it is your last chance to catch the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition at Nature in Art, as it closes on 8 March.
The March competition gives you the chance to win a fabulous meal at Bottelinos - Cheltenham’s premier Italian restaurant, tickets to Howlers Comedy Club and tickets to see G2, the Genesis tribute band at Gloucester Guildhall.
