Monty - New arrival at Cotswold Wildlife Park
A very exciting event took place at the Cotswold Wildlife Park earlier in the month when Monty, a young male White Rhino arrived at the Park from Knowsley Safari Park on Merseyside. To everyone’s great relief everything went very smoothly, not least of all to the contractors who had to manoeuvre him in his crate onto the transporter and then very carefully lower it into the enclosure on arrival at the Park. Monty had been “crate trained” over two to three weeks so that he would happily go into the crate before making his journey to us. Monty will be company for Bull, one of the original rhinos who came to the Park in l972. He has outlived his two female companions who arrived at the same time. If everything goes smoothly two young female rhinos, from a reserve in South Africa, will be arriving at the Park later in the year, another very exciting event.
