Holst Museum Appeal

The Holst Museum Appeal

Appeal for donations towards the cost of repairing the roof of the Holst Birthplace Museum.

The Friends of the Holst Birthplace Museum have launched an appeal for funds to help pay for essential repairs to the roof of the Museum. The estimated sum required to carry out repairs is £25,000. Repairs have become necessary due to the extraordinary weather conditions during the latter part of 2006.

The appeal has got off to an energetic start with many friends making valuable contributions. However work cannot be completed until further money is raised. It is hoped that Cheltenham Borough Council will be able to make a contribution to back up the important private and corporate fund raising.

The Holst Birthplace Museum serves to celebrate the life and work of one of Britain’s most famous composers, and provides a unique example of a Victorian home. This independent museum, which has recently been accredited by the Museum, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), is almost entirely supported by voluntary contributions.

The museum houses an important collection of Victoriana and of artefacts and displays relating to Gustav Holst. Looking after the collections and being able to show visitors round the museum depends on being able to keep the house in good repair.

Contributions to this important appeal may be sent to the museum addressed to:
