Latest news from WWT Slimbridge’s LEGO ® Brick Trail
Top of the blocks! Lottie the otter clear favourite in WWT Slimbridge’s LEGO ® Brick Trail.
An early leader has emerged in a public vote for the favourite character in WWT Slimbridge’s Lego brick animal trail.
Lottie the Otter has received around four times the votes of the next most popular character, making it very unlikely that anyone will knock her off the top spot.
The second and third places Emily the Emperor Dragonfly and Flavia the Flamingo are much closer so it will come down to the visitors in the final weeks to decide the outcome.
Since the trail opened on July 18 visitors have been voting with counters for their favourite character on their return to the visitor centre.
There are nine LEGO brick animals dotted around the beautiful grounds.
It didn’t take long for Lottie to emerge as a clear favourite.
Gary Haseley-Nejrup, General Manager at Slimbridge, said: “There is something about Lottie that our visitors and the team here just love. Like our real otters she is beautiful to look at and her expression reveals a sense of fun and character.
“She is also rather impressive as she is the largest character with 15,500 bricks and took a whopping 120 hours to build.
“It is exciting though that votes are so close between Emily and Flavia, as much more delicate models they are very different to Lottie.
“It will be interesting to see whether we start to see any tactical voting developing.”
The Lego ® Brick animal trail is part of WWT Slimbridge’s Nature Explorers event which is at the Centre until September 6.
Families can pick up a free passport on arrival and take part in a series of fun activities and challenges collecting stickers along the way. One of the activities is to vote for their favourite character.
