Cheltenham Rises to the challenge for Sport Relief
Hundreds of people are expected to take part in Sainsbury’s
Sport Relief Mile 2008 on 16 March which is to be hosted by Cheltenham Borough
Council in Pittville Park.
This event is held at 200 other locations across the country and the money
raised is spent by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people living incredibly
tough lives both at home in the UK
and in some of the world’s poorest countries.
This year the challenge has been changed and you now have
the choice of 1, 3 or 6 miles, but places are limited so if you want to join in
the fun then sign up now.
Craig Mortiboys, healthy communities partnership manager at
the council is organising Cheltenham’s event, he
said: "Sport Relief is a great way
for individuals and families to raise money for a fantastic cause, whilst also
getting active and having fun. Pittville
Park is a great place to host an
event of this kind, and we hope that many local people will sign up for the
challenge."
There are other Sport Relief Events throughout
Gloucestershire and details will be found during March in the What’s On
