Hattie at Cotswold Falconry Centre

Cotswold Falconry Centre’s Endangered Secretary Bird, Hattie, Takes Centre Stage in Flying Displays

Cotswold Falconry Centre is proud to feature one of its most captivating residents, Hattie the Secretary Bird, in its daily flying shows. As one of four Secretary Birds bred at the Cotswold Falconry Centre, Hattie regularly charms audiences with her unique hunting skills and powerful presence.

About Hattie
Hattie’s long legs and striking feathers make her a standout at the Cotswold Falconry Centre, but it is her conservation story that truly captures attention. Secretary Birds, native to sub-Saharan Africa, are renowned for their unusual hunting technique, using their strong legs to kick and immobilise prey such as snakes. Sadly, Secretary Birds are now classified as endangered due to habitat loss.

Hattie’s regular performances in the Cotswold Falconry Centre’s shows highlight the importance of protecting endangered species. Through Hattie, the centre aims to raise awareness of the conservation efforts needed to preserve Secretary Birds and other vulnerable species.
