The Tivoli pub in Cheltenham to have new lease of life after closure
The Tivoli pub in Cheltenham is to re-open next month after 18 month closure and £1m investment.
Having served its last pint in April 2009 the Tivoli closed its doors to the public after failing to keep up with soaring overheads.
Some 18 months later and following a substantial refurbishment programme, costing nearly £1million, Enterprise Inns and Scoff & Quaff Holdings Ltd plan to re-open The Tivoli on Thursday 9 December.
Lessees Brian Hulme, Nick Mossop and Steve Ballard of Scoff & Quaff will be creating around 30 new employment opportunities for local people over the next couple of months.
Previously a drinking venue and sports bar, the new-look Tivoli will present an entirely different style of venue as a result of its extensive refurbishment. Serving a variety of quality fresh meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, alongside premium draught lagers, real ales and a superb selection of wines, the Tivoli is expected to appeal to all customers’ palates and pockets.
No stranger to success within the food and beverage sector, Mr Hulme, who already operates four successful venues across the midlands, said: “We are very excited to be re-opening The Tivoli after many months of hard work. We’ve hopefully transformed a previously tired outlet into a quality venue”
“While the objective was to upgrade the venue, the process has been challenging as one of our main priorities has been to remain sympathetic to the traditional, Georgian architecture that is the building’s heritage.
“Part of this process has involved the installation of a frameless glass roof that ensures that the individual structure of the building is visible and the structural developments do not compromise the aesthetics of the venue in anyway.
“We are looking forward to welcoming customers, both old and new, into the pub over the next few months and are hopeful that the re-opening of The Tivoli will become a welcome addition to the local community.”
The Tivoli, bar + dining is located in Andover Road, Cheltenham. It will be open seven days a week, serving food and drinks throughout the day from Thursday 9th December 2010. The Tivoli will have a welcoming bar, separate dining areas, meeting, function and private dining rooms. It also benefits from an attractive courtyard.
