CHICAGO - coming to the Everyman Theatre in 2022

Everyman Theatre Cheltenham

CHICAGO - the ‘sexiest musical ever’ - comes to the Everyman Theatre for the first time in 2022  from 28 February to 5 March, starring Coronation Street’s Faye Brookes.

“Murder, greed, corruption, exploitation, adultery and treachery…all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts”
So begins the international multi-award-winning musical,
Chicago.

Fresh from being runner-up success on Dancing on Ice, Faye Brookes will play Roxie Hart. She will be joined by leading West End star Djalenga Scott as Velma Kelly.
Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the roaring 20s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her.

Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.

Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago’s sexy, sassy score includes the show-stopping songs Razzle Dazzle; Cell Block Tango and All That Jazz.

Winner of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy, Chicago is the longest running American musical in Broadway and West End history.

Head of Sales and Marketing at the Everyman, David Allen said: “We are thrilled to welcome Chicago to the Everyman for the first time to kick off our 2022 season. It’s a huge and iconic show with that’s won all the awards and it’s easy to see why – it has everything you want from a big musical with two top female actors starring in it.”

Tickets are on sale now (9.30am Friday 9 April) and can be booked by calling the Everyman Theatre on 01242 572573 or direct via the website.
