Bouldering at 270 Climbing Park: Spaces still available for Summer Holidays
Calling all 11–16-year-olds eager to explore the world of climbing this summer!
270 Climbing Park is thrilled to announce the launch of its "Intro to NICAS Bouldering" sessions.
These beginner-friendly classes introduce young climbers to the exciting sport of bouldering, a form of climbing done on walls up to 4m high with thick mats below for safety. No ropes or harnesses are needed, making it an accessible way to start climbing.
Bouldering emphasises problem-solving and technique over brute strength, making it suitable for all fitness levels. Each session includes a free pair of climbing shoes, so participants don't need to invest in gear upfront. The sessions are designed to teach essential climbing skills, movements, and safety practices, all guided by qualified coaches.
Participants will also learn about the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS), a structured programme that tracks climbing progress and can be used towards various certifications, including Duke of Edinburgh Awards and GCSEs. Each participant receives a NICAS logbook to document their achievements and progress.
The "Intro to NICAS Bouldering" sessions are held in small groups of up to six people, ensuring personalised instruction. Classes run from 10 am to 12 pm over five consecutive days, Monday to Friday. While some weeks are already fully booked, there is still availability for two courses taking place during August.
270 Climbing Park is conveniently located between Cheltenham and Gloucester, on the edge of the Cotswold escarpment and near the M5 motorway, ensuring great access for the whole of Gloucestershire and beyond.
Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to learn bouldering in a fun and supportive environment. To secure a spot, visit 270 Climbing's booking page and select a start date.
