WIN a fabulous experience seeing the Scooters from Quadrophenia! Plus numerous family tickets to visitor attractions.

August starts with a feast of entertainment in Gloucester with the finale of the Gloucester Festival. On offer over the weekend will be a fantastic funfair, live music, street theatre, comedy at the Docks and to end, a massive Firework Spectacular in the Park - a great weekend for everyone to enjoy!

Still on the festival front, the ever popular Cheltenham Cricket Festival is in full swing and with four sides visiting, promises to be a superb occasion which runs until 10 August.

This is also the month to visit one of the numerous visitor attractions that Gloucestershire has to offer. Participate in the interactive displays at Birdland, feed the farm animals at Cotswold Farm Park, go wild at Cotswold Wildlife Park or hop aboard a steam train with the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. Also, at the end of the month you can visit Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends over at Dean Forest Railway – a great day out for the children.

Kids can also ‘go crazy’ at Sudeley Castle on the 9 and 10 August and watch the 'battle commence' at Lodge Park over the August Bank Holiday.

Our favourite, the Bourton-on-the-Water football match in the river Windrush will be kicking off in the afternoon on the Bank Holiday Monday. If you haven’t been before – it’s a real must. One handy tip: take a waterproof or get wet!!!

Also on the river, this time the River Severn, the Severn Bore will be making its way with the highest predicted ‘bore’ of the year on 31 August, but if you can’t wait to be served up with action, try a wild ‘boar’ roast, the night before at Taurus Crafts, who’ll be staging the burning of the ‘Fire Sculpture’ – live entertainment and fun awaits you.

Below you’ll find the usual comprehensive lists of what’s on in Gloucestershire in August. Enjoy the summer holidays and lets hope the sun shines.
