WWT Slimbridge celebrates scooping gold award

WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre has been awarded Gold accolade status from the Visit England, Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme. This is a huge national achievement as the accolade is not given lightly and only a small proportion of visitor attractions receive it every year.
Visit England accolades are available to attractions that are part of the Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme and are allocated through a robust scoring system based on an annual assessment by Visit England. The highly prized Gold accolade award is reserved for top-scoring attractions and it is thanks to the hard work and commitment of all the staff and volunteers that Slimbridge has achieved this prestigious status.

The centre embarked on a programme of inward investment almost 12 months ago that has enabled various training initiatives, development of the new Kingfisher Kitchen and Canoe Kiosk and toilets, a continued focus on improving customer experience and an emphasis on additional high recall marketing campaigns have really paid dividends in terms of positive customer feedback and recognition, which was all noted by Visit England. This accolade is well deserved and a true team effort, supported by the national WWT team, also based at Slimbridge Wetland Centre.

Gary Haseley-Nejrup from WWT Slimbridge said:

“The accolade has been something that as a centre we have been striving towards for the last year. It covers everything from the visitor experience, marketing, website, and social media right through to the presentation of the grounds & buildings, customer service, exhibits, education, talks and activities. The Gold award is a celebrated standard and is a true reflection of the growth and development we have taken as a leading regional visitor attraction”.
