Performances at the Everyman Theatre in July

The month of July sees another programme of exciting performances at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham and there appears to be something for everyone, including the children. This may well be welcomed by some parents as July sees the start of the school summer holidays in Gloucestershire.

Cbeebies fans will be thrilled when their favourite characters visit the Everyman Theatre with the show Cbeebies at the Theatre: Let’s Play, filled with music and song. Join PC Plum, Postman Pat, Jess the Cat and Tamba from Tikkabilla and discover the fun in recycling those everyday things that we throw away. There'll be plenty of excitement and surprises as the Jakers, Bill & Ben, Boo and even the Koala Brothers get in on the action as they join together with Tommy Zoom to combat the dastardly deeds of Polluto. Later in the month children’s presenter Peter Hillier takes to the stage with his new show Boogie Pete Live! Join Pete for a show full of song and dance, magic and silliness. A perfect start to the school summer holidays in Gloucestershire.

The National Star Centre in partnership with the Everyman Theatre have devised a funny and thought provoking show called Cyber Surfing. It explores the changing ways in which people communicate and some of the dangers involved in using the internet.

The Studio Theatre is the venue for the interpretation of two powerful life stories. Lola, the life story of Lola Montez is told in a fiery mix of flamenco dance and music in the Studio Theatre. In Playing Burton the late, great Richard Burton is portrayed by Josh Richards in a moving performance giving an insight into his talented and tragic life.


The hit movie The Wedding Singer will take the Everyman by storm with a star studded cast, including Jonathan Wilkes and Natalie Casey. With a musical score that takes you back to the eighties this is a real feel-good night out.

Deadly Game is an exciting thriller with lots of twists, turns, bluffs and double bluffs which will have you riveted to your seat until the final conclusion as the beautiful and successful Camille against a ghost from her past to save her life. Noel Cowards Private Lives is also brought to the Cheltenham stage telling the stories of the loves of the divorced Amanda and Eliot in the enigmatic 1930’s.

Beautiful Thing is the story of Jaime and the confusion he feels in his life. This performance has become an urban fairytale about friendship, trust, love and acceptance. (It contains scenes of a mild homosexual nature).

Two show us the events in a northern pub through the eyes of its landlord and lady. Fourteen diverse characters are played by two people. You may recognise a few from your own local pub.

Under African Skies is the charming story of Mamodou, his life and adventures across the great African continent, complete with song, drumming and audience participation.

New Voices showcases a series of pieces written by young local people working in conjunction with The Everyman Theatre, the Roses and London’s Royal Court and performed by professional actors. This is the perfect opportunity to see some new up and coming talent.

For a laid back evening why not enjoy a bit of late –night jazz in the County bar? On 11 July Greg Abate, the renowned saxophonist. Flautist and composer will be performing with the Alex Steele Trio.
