Kidz Comedy Club returns to the Guildhall
During the 2008 February half term break I took my children ages nine and twelve along to the Comedy4Kids Club at The Guildhall in Gloucester. This was going to be a bit of an interesting one for me to see how it stood up to the adult versions that I like to see on a regular basis.
The children were excited as never seeing anything like this before they didn’t know what to expect. The audience was a mixture of kids, parents and grandparents with the children ranging in age from six to about fifteen.
James Campbell appeared on the stage looking very normal and smartly dressed. A good start I thought – no clowns! He really is extremely funny and we all chuckled our way through his first set. There were no one liners either, but a collection of funny stories which were aimed at a younger audience. But hey, we were all children once so it did take you back a bit!.
The next act was Andrew O’Neil, a Dr Who fan who entertained his young audience with more amusing stories. It’s quite an experience to see how a grown man reacts to a 6 year old heckler and there was quite a lot of audience participation. Both acts went down acts went down extremely well with the audience and a good time was had by all.
So… would I go again? Yes.
Did the kids enjoy it? Yes?
Would we recommend it to others ? Definitely, but book early. The word is out there now.
