Summer activities at the Holst Museum

Summer activities at the Holst Museum

In association with its new exhibition “Gustav’s Gramophone”, the Holst Museum will be holding a series of activities and events throughout the summer.

The new “Butler’s Pantry” learning space will host a range of exciting children’s activities throughout the summer, including making your own art deco patterned clay tile and creating a flapper girl headdress or a sparkly bow tie.  Children can also take part in a trail around the Museum hunting for HMV’s iconic ‘Nipper’ dog and even win one of their own.

The special events include a Vintage Clothes & Books Sale, when the Museum will be turned into a 1920s-50s emporium with sellers specialising in clothes and books from the gramophone age.

Another highlight will be DJ 78, a guest on BBC 6 Music who will be DJ-ing using two genuine vintage gramophones at the charming Boathouse Cafe in Pittville Park.

Laura Kinnear, Curator at the Holst Birthplace Museum says: ‘The Holst family gramophone has never been on public display before so we are very excited about showing it to visitors for the first time this summer. We also can’t wait for our 1920s/30s events which we know will be great fun for both adults and children.
