Stagecoach West service improvements and changes from 4 September

Stagecoach West service improvements and changes from 4 September
  • 4th September service improvements across Gloucestershire & South Gloucestershire
  • Kingsway, Gloucester route improvements to service new homes
  • New direct buses from Gloucester and Dursley to Thornbury
  • New Stagecoach services & tickets for South Gloucestershire

From Sunday 4th September Stagecoach are making bus service improvements across Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.

Services across Gloucester, Stroud and the Forest of Dean will see new timetables designed to improve punctuality in light of worsening traffic congestion. In response to customer demand, new trips will run on Services 1 to Matson and 8 to Cooper's Edge on Sunday evenings, as well as on Service 12 to Quedgeley on weekday mornings. A small number of poorly patronised journeys on several different routes will also be withdrawn as part of the review.

New direct buses will run with support from Gloucestershire County Council from Gloucester and Dursley to Thornbury as Service 60 and Bristol as Service 62/X62. These buses also call at Waterwells Drive in Quedgeley to provide an hourly service to the new Hunts Grove development. The County Council are also funding Service 69, linking Tetbury and Minchinhampton to Stroud.

In Kingsway, Service 66 will change route to serve more houses on the estate. All buses will run via Rudloe Drive and Valley Gardens/Thatcham Avenue between Waterwells P&R and Copeland Park, running every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime. A daytime link between Kingsway, Asda and Quedgeley Matalan will be retained every 30 minutes by Service 66Q.

New Stagecoach services will run in Chipping Sodbury, Yate, Wotton-under-Edge, Kingswood and Bath under contract to South Gloucestershire Council. The network, including Services 84, 85, 86 and 620, will be covered by a brand new Stagecoach South Glos range of tickets to reduce the cost of regular travel and encourage new customers to try the bus.

Announcing the array of improvements and new services James O’Neill, Commercial Manager for Stagecoach West comments "The vast majority of our customers will notice an improvement in time-keeping on their journey with us, whilst a few will need to adjust to new journey times and some will also be able to take advantage of the extra trips and connections."
