Ukulele Day this August at Taurus Crafts

Ukulele Day at Taurus Crafts

Ukulele Day on Sunday 14 August at Taurus Crafts is a fun family day out with a difference. Featuring lots of local ukulele bands under a covered marquee area right next to the visitor centres 140m2 beach area. Entertaining the crowds will be the ‘Ukes uv’ Azzard’, Gloucester Strings, Forest Uke3A, The Buskuleles of Usk, and Caldicot Uke3A. With onsite busking support from ‘The Pukes’ and Lydney Music School Buskers.

If you fancy trying your hand at playing a ukulele, Lydney Music School will be providing free taster sessions between 1pm and 2.30pm so you can discover your hidden musical talents and join in the fun.

For creative visitors the craft theme at the centre is extended to include a ‘make a ukulele’ workshop. Using recycled ice cream tubs, a length of wood and some fishing line you can make a playable fun ukulele to play on the day and take home. Other creative activities on the day include paint your own pot and finger knitting.

The market will be an eclectic mix of antiques, collectables, fabric bags, vinyl records, music paraphernalia, local cider from McCrindles, local beer from Castles Brewery. In addition to the delicious food available in Taurus Crafts café the catering team will be running a barbecue using local award winning burgers, pork sausages, and grilled haloumi.

Ukulele Day is free to enter, and the music will be under cover, rain or shine the bands will play on!
